Popcorn time - Free Movie Streaming

Wondering if any people here use it?

Best way to describe is its a torrent based Netflix (which offers better films/tv shows) and is completely free (and illegal) via streaming.

There was a lot of drama relating to the software and a company who originally developed it (they was forced to shut down the original version) but instead of that being the end, they released the software as open source and its been snapped up by a lot of people.

anyway heres the ui

and heres the new site - http://get-popcorn.com/

you can also combine it with google cast, so instead of being limited to your pc you can watch it else where.

there are two ways of doing this, first you will need the googlecast browser extension which you can find in the playstore (great little tool on its own)

1. Load the film inside the app, then pause it enter http://127.0.0.1:8888 into your url and then hit the stream button / select your googlecast
2. Load the film inside the app, then pause and go to https://dabble.me/cast/?video_link=http://(your pc ip here):8888, hit stream / select googlecast and play. (if you use a router you will need to find your default gateway ip and use that)

We have many film buffs around here so figured id share this.

Enjoy.

I played with this for a while. Didnt get there in time to use the original but theres a lot of other copys that sprouted up like you say.

It's a nice mobile alternative for tablet use - where you dont have torrent client access, but i think for PC use you might as well just download the film normally, have a wider selection, and permanently have it.

It's really just a nice interface for allow people who dont know / dont trust torrenting to watch films illegally.

Yeah don't use time4popcorn. It's a clone and a bad one at that. They host the program code externally so can change it at anytime to do things like steal files on your laptop or log what you're doing.

http://get-popcorn.com/ is the better 'official' one at the moment with full open source on GitHub and active development

Ah, knew there was a fair few. Thanks

This version seems to be further behind in terms of development from first glance , time4popcorn uses a newer gui.

Might have to give this a go if it saves me looking for latest releases on a third party website and then finding a torrent for it.

None of you use yify? In my opinion, best torrent site I've ever come accross. Been using it for about 6 months now. They have started to add pop ups now though :(

Option 1 crashes after about 10mins of playing and I get the Aw, Snap error and then it doesnt work afterwards.
Option 2 just shows a loading screen on my tv saying 'Sponsored by Brandfolder.com' with an inifinite loading bar
