Yes they do use a phone method (I-PIN I think it's called) and it's probably very difficult to work around, a lot more difficult than using a generated number that's for sure. I don't think they do it because they want to be exclusive to Koreans, as far as I know it's the law over there.

You could go find some Koreans in your town who still have their IDs, like foreign students, and ask them to make game acct for you, probably would cost you something also but less chance of the ID being banned. I imagine site like this one have some keygen like korean ID generator that could be flagged as false by korean game server but doubt it very much they bother to do anything about it actively. In your place I'd just pay up 12.50 and risk the loss, then tell us here how it goes on not goes LOL so more folks don't get ripped off in this community.

I suppose you know their mir is low rate, extremely poor drops, etc. or at least was years back when I tried it out few times.

lol you realize all a vpn does is act as a gateway to give you a korean IP address.. your packets still ahve to travel all the way to the VPN gateway and then to the game server.

the VPN will only increase lag as you'll have more overhead on each packet

Far's suggest is the only legitimate comment.. move closer or get a faster connection, e.g. a leased line, even then it'll still be high latency.

The game is playable solo for pve but pvp is pretty useless unless you're against a bot.
Most bots teleport but there are a lucky few that don't get away.

Maybe the quests are sort of 'hardwired' text in those dialog windows? That is something which is not open to windows language display ability (it doesn't have 'access' to those dialogs as it has to the chat window).

Choosing different VPN gateway means your 'tracert', that is route to the destination, may go different way and so the ping time can change, for good or for worse. It depends where the bottle neck is. I recall back in the euromir days that there was a talk that Koreans (as a nation) did something to limit speed of cross border access to their internet, or something like that, maybe it was only regarding korean game servers by their game companies... so unless you had korean IP (which VPN can give you) your speed of access was curtailed somehow. That can be done if there is access to some gateway router settings, like changing priorities based on IP origin or worse, deliberately slowing access to those IPs.

I suppose you can't read Korean lang, right? Can you even have some translations made of the text which shows up in chat window? I suppose you could copy and paste into google translate or something, and you can't copy the text in dialog windows even if it showed up in the proper korean pic signs (I think even on websites they like to use some html method which doesn't allow to copy the text or the google translate can't access it)... I remember when I was on few times, I managed to figure out the meaning of some of their signs and recognized them later on in different context if I looked hard LOL

Been playing Korean mir 3 on and off for a while now. The koreans think im a chinese hacker so they dont like me! haha. Lag i dont really notice it. sure im behind the players there but i do not get 2 step or anything like this.

TBH its kinda boring,they dont fight, grief or steel mobs and it is kinda frowned upon, its super super carebare, its boring! Its also crazy easy if you have freinds. You could do 0-80 in around 2weeks if geeked hard. There is a new map where the EXP is around 1.3million, without buffs. back on USA mir the highest we could get was something like 168,000 per mob.

There are alot of cool updates, new refine system where you dont have to level the weapon now, from what i understand 1st upgrade is like 0-9 stats without a chance to fail.then going forward a fragment type system, crit and extra stats can be added to the weapons. Item refine is ingame, again im not sure how this works, ive seen +10 para and pro rings. These mainly came from when Mir 3 started, people could transfer there character from mir 2 to mir 3 which i found interesting.

They just started a new server which is number 5/6 on the login section. This one actually caters for the pker. you drop from body, lose exp, and genrally looks more fun.

1 Thing that was a big dissapointment, every low level cave/map had bots farming for benes/gold life steal items. The GMs dont really care as there is a site call itembay where most is sold for RL.

Google translate is a must is a must, copy and pasting items from the Korean forum is key for looking through the TM.

Korean mir 2 is alot more popular, need to get on there! haha
