I made an app to check your SQL settings and Port setup.

This app requires Java 1.5.

Your SQL is not listening to TCP 1433
Which version is your SQL?

on sql 2000 enterprise manager
right click your (local) (Windows NT)
Click network configuration
Make sure TCP/IP is under Enabled protocols.
and if you click properties of TCP/IP
make sure it's 1433 and uncheck hide server.

The Port checker part should work. (different ports for some of them) so you need to change those.

sql checker I don't know. I don't think so...
