Hello, I'm in need of some assistance. Basically I'm confused with how the drop rates are calculated in-game. I know it is done by ratio i.e 1/1000 but then does the server work out the drop rate as a % so 1/1000 = 0.001% or like once 1000 of that mob have been killed it will drop the specified item?

:S

I far as i am aware there is no % attached , each drop list is random on mobs death items are picked from the drop file at time of death.
to test this take a mob say a scarecrow spawn 100 of them making sure that no other scarecrows spawn , set the drop file to something you can recognize e.g.

1/100 sunpot
1/20 halfmoon
1/2 medhealthpot

Then kill hundred of them , then count how many of each items drop , you be surpised ---- I did this test had 13 sunpots . so my feelings are that the dropfile is the main interger in what it drops not % of mobs killed . which would make sense because you would have people ingame counting deaths of say boss mobs and working out which boss to kill at which time ie 100th time to get a certain item....
It was an old misconseption i think in the euro mir community , bit like card counting in casinos...

If you want a specific drop list say out 100 mobs you can spawn 99 of 1 type of mob with 1 drop list and set it to spawn bonus mob at 100 but with a different drop list i guess.

I maybe wrong ...

To sum it up in a sentence.

The ratio of a drop is the percentage chance in which it will drop from a monster. So 1/100 would be 1%, 1/1000 is 0.1% and so on. They work similar to fractions in math. Sometimes you'll find that 1/100 items drop more frequently that you'd expect but thats effected by your body luck.

nah lcd told the server just loads a random bag of items to drop

Surely this doesn't apply for box standard 2.3 or 2.6 files? I'm sure the body luck in euro used to effect drop rate slightly.

As for the heroes files I don't know.

Some people look into drops way too much. When they see 1/100 they think only 1 will drop in 100 killed mobs. It's much more random than this.

I just see it as the higher the number, the less chance it has to drop, not that I won't get the said item untill the 100th mob is killed.

Nice one Tyraes, you have cleared the matter right up for me. Based on my own theory and interpretation that the drops are based on a % rather than number of mobs killed is good too know and can only be influenced slightly by luck, Because such drop rates ive seen are near impossible lol and its baffled my head for the last 3 days.

Cheers
