downloaded, installed. Same problem, what do i need to set

I connected up my pc to monitor and pc. But when i play videos (thats not on windows media) and click on the monitor which surfing the video minimizes. Is there a way to stop that. eg. Watching justin.tv on one side and playing mir / surfing on the other side with the justin.tv staying full screen
