Why not just use the Zircon source?

@Alecs may know

Several ppls refuse to porting from Holley to Zircon because they dont have any knowledge how to use zircon or how to code on it.
They also got months or years of "progress" by the right drop rate, nice fit AI for mob, and stuff. :P

I wonder how you would handle a zircon without the help of a certain person :)

There are servers that are not easily portable to Zircon. Years and years of adding stuff. And I don't know if porting some of those servers is worth it with the current usercount. Also I don't think people want to play the same server for 10 years.

Those server are fully playable with a VM. It doesn't take more than 1GB of RAM and an XP install.

Playable is up for debate lol.

They run like **** on anything modern, certainly far from playable on todays standards. If they don't run as smooth as Zircon does, no one plays them.

Why is it up for debate? Holley was made to run on XP and it doesn't need any discrete graphics, with the software emulation from the virtual machine is enough. The only thing I have to do is scale the image a bit because 800x600 resolution is way to low.

And I'm not saying it's better than Zircon, I'm saying is 100% playable.

I think i remember Zed getting it to Run quite nice on Win7 but it was still arse on Win10 which the majority are on today.

VMware or any other virtual machine is never a nice experience imo.

I think he used some DX wrappers.

Well...if you really want to do the work for 1 or 2 players lol, i'll say no more.

There is a reason why Mir3 was dead until the Zircon source was available.

Looks like something offended you lol

We're talking about existing server so there's no need to do extra work. I was just saying that you can play old client on a virtual machine. Relax your ass.

Used a custom wrapper, however the fact that Holley/GSP are locked on 60FPS and both uses different effects (glow, texture filter) it makes them GPU demanding (for DX10-11 GPUs).

I remember i had a workbench where i installed different versions of windows 7 and found one which was working quite nice for GSP,
however... nobody will reinstall or downgrade their windows for Mir 🧐

I wouldn't even install Windows at all.

My laptop came with Windows, so I already paid for the license but I need a real OS to work with. Windows is a pain in the ass, at least for my work flow.

I usually build my rigs custom since i dislike the fact that i pay more for a pre-built rig just because of "the brand" (i use it for gaming and for ZenX stuff)

But for irl work, i use my macbook 👀
