any joy getting your databases reinstated ill try today myself see if its something your maybe overlooking (have dne myself many times)

Installing sql 2005 atm and downloading sp3 for it. Have you got the sp installed also?

I think so, do you have a link for sp3 - i may have installed sp4 thinking it includes all previous one. i have no idea :D

I have this XP in VMachine, it has service pack 3 but it looks like it is not x64, would this database work on it? I guess not, right?

Im runnning all of it on windows 7. Only thing is client doesn’t seem to work.

OK I also have win7 VM, will look at it later on today what kind it is. Would be appreciated if you would configure the files running in VM since that is easily shared. I am fair noob when it comes to anything to do with databases.

64bit. If you follow that guide there shouldn’t be a problem.
Send a ss of each step of setup. And someone can verify if it’s correct before movin on sure

yeah, still getting the same error message when trying to restore the db. very odd. i used to get these files running all the time :D

lom2(restorethis) the file thats in the dbserver folder. i've tried mir2 lom2 as database names. never had the name be a issue before :S

I installed in W7 x64 VM. Now to restore the database 'mir2(restorethis)'.

Followed this guide Akuma found here https://www.lomcn.org/forum/threads/setting-up-mssql-2005-and-restoring-databases.57446/
The link given in that guide to download 'SQL Server Management Studio' works but I am wondering if the current download version 18 might be too modern for the 2005 sql server? The older versions for download go back to v16.5, which one to get?
