EDIT: Forgive me for not updating main post, I been too busy working on the project, Please take a minute to search for my posts in this thread for a quick update.

Hey guys,

I am working on a project currently, I have been creating a server from scratch for a few days now... (since 16/03/2010.)

What do I mean from Scratch?
I mean completely from scratch using no one's Source codes but creating my own.

What Language?
I have been coding the server in C# with VS2010...

Why?
The reason being is that any previous bugs won't exist, although there is a chance of new bugs arising, I am confident that it won't be major and easier to find and fix. Almost no cheats would work as it would be a new client made in C#. It will also allow an oppertunity for many more features to be added. there was alot more reasons some personal.. such as to reinforce my course knowledge.

Progress on Server (Estimations)
Interface... 40%
Server Control... 30%
Game Settings... 25%
Monster AI... 50%
Enviroment... 50%
Database Structure... 50%
Items... 30%
Players... 30%
NPC... 0%

Progress on Client
Started :D...
Engine Structure is in place ready to be built upon

Server ETA... 2-3 weeks for the Server to be operational...
Client ETA... 1 - 3 Weeks for the client to be operational...

I posted to get some feed back and opinions...

Interface? why change it?

I think you miss understood, The interface had to be redone because it was being made from scratch in a different language..

This is the Interface I am refering to... (OutDated).. It won't be called "Fate Server" was just a random name.

High rate is good if done properly, so is low rate and med :P

Stick to med rate... Low rate attracts too low users nowadays, high rates die out way too fast... med is more or less perfect.

I see, I'll probably look at getting a Poll made at a later date to see peoples prefrence.

Ultimatly, I plan to keep the client similar, its what the user are used to, (interface / movement).

other then that where I see improvements they will be made.

I plan to add alot of unseen/new feature.

but looks like atm you change the m2server layout

but you have to be copy the mir2 layout from some code around

what codes are you looking at?

Its not c++ its c# using the .NET framework.

Been speaking to him about it on msn, looks funky.

I heard about ur chat, just a few things to consider:

fourheroes has well over 40million mobs spawnin, with 100+ players. m2 uses 15-25% CPU 1-1.4mil ish memory on an i5 2.6 ghz 4gb ram machine.

i heard with just 6k spawns and 1 players urs was usin 25% cpu on a fairly decent machine?

i cant see it performing well
