Finally, the newest expansion of POE: Path of Exile Heist is here.

Path of Exile: Heist on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will launch on September 23, 2020 at 6:00 PM. EDT or September 23 at 3:00 p.m. PDT.

PC and Mac users can get started with the new Path of Exile: Heist expansion, and console players can dive in until next week. Screen Rant was able to preview the Path of Exile expansion a few weeks ago after sitting down with Chris Wilson, CEO and co-founder of developer Grinding Gear Games, to check out the new features.

Originally, the expansion was supposed to launch in June 2020, but this year it kept spoiling the best plans. However, the team is finally ready to release the latest Path of Exile content even though it is still banned. The game draws heavily on Blizzard's Diablo franchise and implements top-down dungeon crawling mechanics, but it has a lot of twists of its own, especially when it comes to character customization.

After a delay, Path of Exile: Heist launches today for PC and Mac, but console players will have to wait until September 23 to get their hands on it. In the expansion, players will seek the help of highly trained thieves to help them infiltrate "secure facilities to recover valuable artifacts." As the expansion's title indicates, players will have to use stealth bypassing security so that they are not overwhelmed by guards.

After recovering the artifact, players will need to retreat to an extraction point after the alarm goes off automatically. If caught, players will lose everything they stole from the facility. Path of Exile: Heist will have a host of new content including: B. The Heist League, unique items, a new set of spells, and much more. As with the base game Path of Exile, Heist is free to play. It also introduces new NPCs, abilities, items, and a new area called Rogue Harbor. Grinding Gear Games also released a trailer for the expansion a few weeks ago, which can be seen below.

Aside from the popularity of the game, one of the most interesting selling points of Path of Exiles is that you can play for free without getting paid to win as well. Many games have implemented free play as a point of sale, but they also offer in-game perks for microtransaction players. Black Desert Online is one of those titles, and while it is possible to be successful in this game without having to use microtransactions, the road to riches is much longer and arduous. Path of Exile seems proud to avoid this divisive practice and instead focus on quality and fairness.

Even in the early days of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 there was a pay-to-win feature that sparked outrage and talked about banning the practice of loot boxes and microtransactions altogether. The fact that Grinding Gear Games has set itself the goal of highlighting Path of Exile: Heist as a free game with no pay to win is thanks to its commitment to promoting fair play among fans. While people are free to spend their money for buying poe currency as they see fit, and businesses must generate income to keep going, creating a competitive advantage for those who have more money than others is a huge challenge for many players. Given the success of Path of Exile to date, the game seems to do well without it.
