Firstly despite my dewey skin and full head of hair I am over the age of 18.

Secondly, is it not just going to be an "enter your dob and click ok" thing?

Doesn't bother me. Im over 18 and I have ID/Credit Card.
It's just one of many money making schemes the UK does anyway. There are already 'Age verifying' companies ready to profit from this. They just mask it up saying they are doing it 'to prevent damaging children'.

There are so many ways around this scheme anyway.

It's not about being over or under 18. It's about the government having a database with everyone who wants to watch porn.

It's dystopian.

sadly no. it will require id and you to make an account. shocking whats going on in this country atm.

do what you should be doing anyway and use a VPN id recommend openVPN or tunnel bear. I have used both over the last year never had a problem with either of them

Just a helpful tip,

Never use a Free VPN.

If it's free, then YOU are the product. The only thing they have to gain from that transaction is your data, which they will sell.

Just buy a decent VPN and you're set, it even states in that article that VPN's continue to be legal to use.

What makes you think the paid ones aren't doing the same?

Already have a VPN for downloading torrents because Virgin Media have the torrent sites blocked, only have to switch it to a different country...Not sure what the problem is lol.

Everything restricted is avoidable if you know how to get round it...luckily for us, the incompetence in Technology when it comes to our government continues to be pathetically low.

If you're ashamed of what you are doing, then you probably shouldn't be doing it. Grow up.
Almost everyone watches porn at some point. It's not exactly a big deal...

Not that it really matters, the big names will be bullied into signing up to this travesty, but 99% will just not give a **** and be readily accessible.
You only have to look at places like Mainland China where it is outright blocked by the 'Great Firewall', yet readily accessible with any search engine, to see that nothing can stop people watching porn if they want to.

Easy. Fine every VPN who offerts its services to British citizens.

But there's no need to enforce it. Banning them would make most VPN users stop using them.
how do you work that out? any time this government has tried to ban or restrict anything all they do is bring more attention to it and make it grow

It's not that. We all watch porn, specially mir players, but it's against privacy to register every one who wants to watch something. What if you sign up to a gay site and homosexuality becomes illegal years later? I'm not saying it'll happen in the UK but you get the point.
