If you had changed your regiona settings then, yes, UltraEdit can (and will) show Chinese characters. Most surely you're watching at a place where it isn't any string to translate. This is going to be code section. You have to search for text section ;)

The base EXE has always originated from china? everything is made in china :P
i think 95% of EXE's in mir have been translated from chinese so you will always find some sort of chinese in there

Okay, that "this is not able to run in dos mode" means that you've broken your exe. So you have changed something which was not text (ie code) and the program is wrong now.

And I'm almost sure that that English Kingmir3.exe is packed. This means that the resources and strings are mixed and you won't be able to find or edit anything. So you need to unpack that exe or grab the original Chinese one which is unpacked.

Yes, you could unpack it. Use peid to get which packer was used. I think that peid was talked about before in other post. Check it for better reference ;)

What is it packed with?

Usally if Peid picks up the protection it can be simple to unpack but if it doesn't then it might be a little harder to unpack. Plenty of guides though on unpacking, just takes time.
