You can stop the 3 gates opening by changing something inside the rungate.ini. yes the 1.8 client will work but you want be able to use most of the features supported by 1.9+.

1.955 client around, someone just needs to upload it to a ftp or something.

Thanks Sanity, ok so I downloaded 1.900 and patch to 1.905 from Senture's ftp, can you tell me what the other patch's are needed to bring me up to 1.9.5.0? as I don't know what to search for. Does it go in sequence, 1.905-1.910-1.915? Gawd I hope not lol

Cannot do it like that, the minimum client is 1.9.20, i THINK 1.9.0.0 was the beta test client and the 1.9.05 was the beta test patch. I tried to do the same years ago but found out you can't :(.
