Accessing mir throgh a proxy server

Is it possible to access mir through a proxy server, im currently on my university dialup service which requires a proxy to access the internet. ive so far been unable to get it to work using http-tunnel and hopster programs. if anybody can provide constructive advice or confirm im wasting my time id appreciate it

thanks, but i should have mentioned i tried this before. the socks server at the university were closed due to downloading abuse from the halls of residence, partly my fault lol.

the programs like http-tunnel etc allow connection through the proxy server for programs like kazaa mirc msn etc etc but they downt alow for external exes to be added. thats basically what im searching for....... a program allowing you to select other programs to be tunneled not just selection of a set list
