Its no good for hosting a server as the files are coded to single core and would only run at about 1.5Ghz on cpu, memory be very carefull when buying pre built machines. The memory is 9/10 times lower than the clock speed.

Oh and don't by a pc from argos ether.

Only advice I have is;

  1. Buy it seperate and build it yourself.
  2. Don't buy anything from argos let alone a pc.

Cyberpower UK

If your lazy you just pick everything you want...This can range from the case, to the motherboard, to the RAM and even a Floppy drive and Sound card lol, once you chose it all, simply click the buy button lol.

Or to save money, you choose what you want, then buy the parts elsewhere on cheaper sites and build it yourself.

You won't even need to know the compatibility, because Cyberpower won't allow you to finish customisation if something isn't compatible.

Graphics Card
If your going to buy a Series 9 Graphics GeForce card, i would recommend getting the 9800 GTX, it may cost a little more than the 9600 GT, but it's a LOT better.

Also, don't buy the Series 200 GeForce cards, they cost far too much more than the Series 9s and they don't have that much of a noticable difference in performance

Processor
Like someone said above, don't waste money on a Quad Core if all you want to do is run a mir server lol

System
You either upgrade to a better Vista package (e.g. Ultimate), or you downgrade to the XP package, i've tried them all and the only Vista package that has a better process management than XP is Ultimate, cause i'm guessing you don't want your system doing other crap in the background rather than concentrating on your server? lol

I'd imagine you'd have to pay more building that sort of rig yourself, as the prices have shot up, its 150quid for a ****ing q6600 >.>

You wont need a decent graphics card thats for sure, I would say anything upto maybe 4GB ram (2GB would be fine) and perhaps a dual core CPU 3ghz x2. Also make sure you get a half decent PSU its a pain having to replace the cheap ones ¬_¬ Also you wont need much hard drive space, Anyting from 40GB+ would be fine. I would suggest buying Windows Server to install on your machine or you could download it for free via torrent then put it on disc! Im told the Windows Server 2008 is DOS proof.

New CD-Keyfinder

Time Crack:

I found a Time Crack (original for Vista) and this one works also for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP1 x86 and x64.
Time Crack: just TWO CLICKS!
Dont use this Time Crack if you've already tried another, or rearmed 3 times!

Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/98972207/WindowsServer2008TimeCrack_uploadby_yrajmail.rar

NO Errors

If you used this time crack already, just try to get another 60 days!

Code:
reboot - delete "timerstop.sys" in "Windows\System32" - delete "timerstop.sys" in "Recycle Bin" - reboot - use time crack - reboot

If you use this time crack more as one time, you get an error in the crack, but after you have 60 days again.
Tested -> IT WORKS!

Ok here is what i would buy if i was building a hosting PC.

CPU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail

Motherboard - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

RAM - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...al Channel Platinum Series DDR2 (OCZ2P10664GK)

PSU - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...iper 530W HPU-4M530 SLi Certified ATX 2.2 PSU

Now you dont even need a good GFX card at all if its to run a server on.. so i would go with this

GFX - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail

If you need a case.. you aint gonna need anything special either

Case - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ter Elite 330 Midi Tower Case - Black (No PSU)

HDD - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp... Blue 80GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (WD800AAJS)

Now when running the server, set M2 to run on affinity core 0 and set SQL / other apps to run on Affinity core 1, that way you will get the best performance out of your CPU. I would also get a hold on Windows server 2003.. better using the proper tools instead of a normal XP/Vista.

All in all including tax your looking @ £430 a little more including shipping but not too much.

That way your gonna get a lot better performance and quality components than you would in a shop built PC and it will cost you around about the same as it would from your argos pages.

What is your problem lmfao? You trying to say that thats not a better setup for price than going for an argos setup? And it wouldnt run a Mir2 server?

I would love yo know what your setup is.. a throw togeth 100 quid pc i take it? Have you ever tested the difference in performace between motherboards?

Its better than the Argos one, but its still not a good spec for hosting.
