Well this is my first real attempt at making a mir2 map.

Motivated by the lack of a Jinchon dungeon map set for RubyM2

heres what i've done so far:

Lobby

The most offputting and tedious part of mapping, is doing the damn attributes. It takes so long, and isnt made any easier by the screen flashing multiple times, everytime you click....

Anyway, is it worth finishing the remaining floors and releasing?

Attributes take 5minutes if you done the map correctly..

Is there any detail on these maps? Eg.. any objects on the floor? As i can see nearly none

when doing attributes its best if you Zoom in 100% i would go round the map walls first with single
attributes just to make sure then fill it and save a backup ! gj

Mission?? If you just check object you use are built correctly.. create the shell, fill outside, go round filling in little niggles n naggles, (the 4mins of the 5min job) BOOM...

needs a lot more detailing
Like your maps Tai? :P

Yes there is detail, its just hard to see from those images.

right, I see now. All I need to do is edit the objects, and just add the attributes to them.

Question though. Once I edit the objects, do I save them as .obj? and is that .obj needed by the client? or is it something only the editor uses?

It looked like you tried to do a symmetrical layout to the 2nd map you made. The first map I do not like because the layout you have used is odd instead of using a simple layout which lobbies should be like (imo). Obviously, for a first attempt it is good. I can see little detail in the pictures you've shown, but as you said its hard too see the detail. Not bad mate, keep at it. Take this as constructive criticism instead of me ripping it apart. Good luck on your next project :P

well, now that I know how to add attributes to the objects, it should be alot less painful putting these together. So Im hoping to have something much better to show soon.

The lobby can easily be redone, its a tiny map, that can be slapped up in 10 mins.

Ofcourse. Its not my work, its yours, but thats just my general opinion on a lobby. Create whatever you like :)

that's a rather large lobby, considering lobbies don't usually have mobs?

See, I have a number of ideas in my head, but the problem is, half the objects are missing. All the stuff I was hoping to use, that you find in the Mir3 version of Jinchon, are seemingly missing from the korean client...

Basically, theres walls, floor tiles, and pillars/bricks, thats it. Makes for pretty uninteresting maps

Look at this shot taken from the Mir3 version:

Everything highlighted is missing from the korean client
