I am planning on buying this laptop, and the price is £802 ($1431).

Is it a decent deal or am i getting 'hosed'?

Dont like Fujitsu

Our Amilo needed to be repaired 3times before they managed to fix an issue that could occur again and occurs randomly on quite alot of the laptops

Thats just us but others have experienced it as well

i have a fujitsu siemens desktop....been a gd relyable pc go for it m8 :P oorrrrr go ere www.meshcomputers.com yes... look at the most expensive computer and druel over its dual core lol and 2 512mb graphic and 600gb hd and 2gb ram lol anyways....yer go for it ^_^

No not from them, anyone but them

It took them 3 repairs to fix a tiny problem (loose cable)
There repair turnaround is over 4 weeks (if your are lucky)
There cooling system is crap (unless you send it for a repair and they add better gel to it)
They have no e-mail or internet surport (a computer company with no e-mail)
The shortest time I was on hold to them was 37 minutes

The only reason they finally fixed my laptop was cause I was filing a court case against them to demand my money back

In short no
I will never even think of bying a FS anything again

I hear ACER have some good laptops, talk to UrbanSocks he will show you the way

ASUS have a fair few decent laptops out there, I'd suggest you gave them a look.

i got an acer it's ok not fast enough for me but never had a problem with it

Mine is an ACER aswell, and never had any problems with it, apart from the fact they included an over-sized version of most of the default fonts in the default install (to compensate for the large resolution)

A quick reinstall of windows from one of my CDs fixed that tho, and ever since its been perfectly fine.

baby is right i have an acer laptop for over 5 years now been relly reliable and its even faster than this new dell laptop im in now o0

I've called the shop. Asked about the cooling problem, and durability of the laptop, and they said yes, usually FS Amilo series are quite problematic, BUT the ones they are offering, are 'custom' or something like that, and that they have been selling them for quite a while, and they have turned out to be quite good and long lasting, hence why they offer a 3 year warranty. Even on IBM's they offer 1year only knowing that IBM's have always been known for their quality.

One of my friends have bought the same laptop, and i'm going to be using it for a day or so to see if i like it, but i am probably going to buy it anyways =p.
