I have been playing Hasekura for a few monthes now and in my opinion it has some serious flaws. Unfortunately these flaws seem to be mostly with the GM and are therefore difficult to fix. :P
Lack of Solid Rules:
The rules on Hasekura seem always to be changing. One minute your allowed to do sometheing thee next its strictly forbidden. I can remember on one occasion during an event the GMs asked everyone not to pk on penalty of a ban for the remainder of the event. Upon receiving proof (screenshots) that a player they happened to like did commit not 1, but multiple pks they chose to ignore it. This same event the GMs allowed Random Teleports on a map then for a period, disabled them then, re-enabled them all the while providing NO information to the players for the reasoning of this. (The goal of the event was to kill as many mobs as possible with in the given time frame. I'm sure we will have people posting about the change of the start and end time of the event but that issue doesn't bother me so much as the ones above.)
Favoritism and Grudges:
I have also come to the conclusion that the GMs seem to favor certain players over others. Some players are being consistently helped by changing rules while others are left out or even hurt by them. An example of this is the "weekend events" these events are started and ended at different times @ supposedly random times. But unfortunately it seems these times ALWAYS favor one group while hurting another.
I also point to the by now infamous "Halloween" event where the rules were manipulated as to provide prizes for members that donate a significant amount of money to the server. At first there were to be 3 prizes for the to 3 killers then after the event was over it was announced there would be 6 prizes but not for the top 6. There was to be the top 3 killers then a second set for the top killers under the level of 75. Keep in mind the TOP killer was only level 78 and had the same kit stats as this 2nd group that was announced as winners at the end of the event.
so it was like this:
1st: lvl 78 30k kills
2nd: lvl 105+ 28k kills
3rd: lvl 105+ 27k kills
4th: no prize
5th: no prize
6th: no prize
7th: lvl 75 12k kills (same prize as first) Large amount of donations
8th: lvl 74 10k kills (same prize as second) unknown
9th: lvl 73 10k kills (same prize as theird) Large amount of donations
My issue is not that decided to award a second tier of prizes but that they did it at a random level and it was not announced previously.
Censorship and Lack of Free Speech:
I have never seen a server besides Hasekura where you were unable to express your opinion as long as it was done in a polite and intelligent manner. I have no issue with word filters and bans for using offensive language. But I take issue when posts expressing a point of view (about in game issues ofc) on the forum are deleted because they conflict with that of the GMs. They add a feedback section but heavily censor/delete posts/ edit portions out if the "feedback" is not in line with their own views. Most recently a system was implemented so that every post made by a non-member must be approved before appearing on their forums. (Non-member is any new member with under 25 posts OR a member with over 25 posts who posts negative feedback at least once). However if the GMs decide your views are in line withe their own they will promote you to a "trusted member" before reaching 25 posts at which point you can post freely at will.
Their forum can be compared to that of any state run newspaper in any authoratarian nation. Providing mostly propaganda, game information, "rules", and heavily monitored and censored user input.
Experience Inconsistency:
The amount of experience level up also seems to be, for lack of a better term "messed up". Using the master student system its not hard for a new player to make level 50 in an hour or two and then get to level 70 in about a day. I think somewhere along the constant switch from 3g to king to JOB the experience system was severely and adversely affected. From level 70+ it seems to be on par with other low rate servers I've seen.
Because of these issues I would NOT recommend Hasekura to other potential players nor do I think that it deserves its LOMCN Approved banner. The server is just not the kind of server I would consider worth donating for and the GMs are just not the kinda of people I would want running a server or having my account info.
