For all you fans, im not sure if your aware but the first of the trilogy "The golden compass" otherwise known as "Northern lights" is soon to come out as a movie.

Its made by the same guys that made the lord of the rings trilogy, with a 100mil budget, i expect good things. Staring daniel craig as lord asriel, nicole kidman as mrs.colter and some random little girl as Lyra.

Books were good. Hope the film does them justice. Just watched the trailer and the CG for the daemons looks ****. Hope its a lot better by release.

Yeah, but you have to accept its really early in the making of the film. Im sure by the time they release they'll have it up to standards.

Don't like the look of the trailer, too clean/futuristic/etc.

Yup, it won't live up to the books they have already messed around with it by downplaying the part the church plays in the books which sucks since they only done that to stop any potential backlash from religious nuts
