i formatted my comp but why the hd space smaller?

yea i know you gotta partician it which i did but i dont see no other drive and this c drive should be 60 gig but it is 31???
if the other partician bit is on comp how do i make it visible? dunno bit piss taking when u bought something then it kinda is half what it should be. ty

Boot up in DOS and run fdisk, you should be able to delete the partition from there.

you cant see it because you only formatted one half of the drive, you need to deleted the OLD partition before you create a NEW one... then format

if its on xp then the xp disk should talk you through it. If its 98 then you need to use dos and fdisk.

first poster: sorry what is f disk? boot disk? or do i have to type some stuff in dos?

second poster: i got xp which should be easier then. but are you sure the only way to get the other particained space is by deleting before i format? i did 2 formats like 2 days ago... viruses everywhere i tell you!

choose delete (3 i think)
choose partition
