Quick question, sorry i had to post here as in personal computers the threads usually go unnoticed and tbh id rather have an opinion from the chronicles community so...

Looking at a new graphics card. I have 2 options in mind..The GeForce GTX 660 (which will require me to get a new PSU) total cost of around £150-£180 or the GTX 750 OC (which I can just plug straight in) total cost of £100

Anybody here use either of these cards and how well are you running chronicles on them if so?

Any useful feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

( if im in the wrong for posting this in here I do apologise )

I've moved the thread to the personal computers section.

Just out of interest, why would you need a new psu for the 660?

I have the GTX 660 (came in my new pc about 2 week ago) I moved from 20fps to 65fps but thats likley to do with the rest of the machine too?

I upgraded from a 4gig ram single prcessor intergrated graphix to a i7 quadcore 16gb ram 2gb GTX660, made a whole lot of difference to my gaming experience (not only can i play al the games i have at high graphics options now but i also get a smooth chronicles experience.
people still skip occasionaly but much much less than before.

I have a great cpu and 8gb of ram. iv not currently got a graphics card so any improvement would probably look dramatic to me. Im using onboard amd graphics currently and chronicles runs fine but during group pvp and when in large amounts of mobs im being slapped left right and centre at no more than 30 fps.

its really down to a matter of eaze. id love to know if the 750 is any good because it would be in my pc tonight without the hassle of extra hardware. But if not ill have to wait till I find a decent enough deal on a good PSU and a 660 :/

I would say upgrade your PSU regardless its easy to install and leaves you room to maneuver for future upgrades.

Future upgrades aint really a problem to be honest. its very unlikely I would need to expand any further as all I do on my pc is play mir and the odd bits of AutoCad design when needed. I just want that extra push in graphics that will give me the better fps and allow me to play other games on medium - high settings.

Not really asking for ultra 4k and what not. I dont really intend on constantly throwing cash into my pc either >_< Especially if its not needed. But if the Gtx 750 is a dead end piece of kit then I would have to get a new PSU as the 750 is probably the best card I can get that doesnt need a bigger PSU.

Sooo lost in all this computer malarky >_<

the 660 is alot better than the 750. even though it is a generation behind.

will a 660 fit in your case though?

yes this server is very much gpu dependant, non of your other stuff is going to make the gpu suffer with this server (or atleast it shouldnt).

---------- Post Merged at 11:46 AM ---------- Previous Post was at 11:42 AM ----------

from checking what a 660 would need on http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/view/Vortex-750-gaming-pc/ website i have used a 350 psu and it says i can use the 660 perfectly.

on that psu would be 8gb ram a i5 4core and 660. that website always makes sure you get 20% more psu than you just incase.

300 watt might work for you if you tell us exactly what the other components are we can help further.

hmm, when i select them options it tells me i will need a 450 psu :( computer could use upto 396 + 20% for head room.

i guess you will either need a new psu or go for the 750, either gpu would be a hell of alot better than the integrated gpu but the 660 be better and people here are saying its getting the max 60-65 fps so its tried and tested. not seen anyone post that has a 750.

Its a Coolermaster 650W GX PSU (bronze), do a bit of googling to make sure it suits your needs. I don't want to tell you that it has got the pci-e cables you would need and we are talking about something completely different.
The only reason I upgraded is because I'm now running SLI otherwise I would still be using it.

Really appreciate the offer budfy but iv decided to go for the 750ti from what I can gather its a pretty decent card for the budget. Seen it in action. runs most games in high/ultra settings. And as far as im aware should piss chronicles easily. Thanks to everyone for all the help :) Cant wait to test it out
