The x800GTO is basically a software-locked X850.

Guess what THAT means....

The SAPPHIRE X800 GTO2 has the R480 core and can be flashed from 8>16 pipes on every card I've read about.

The The X800 GT comes in 3 basic flavors:

Blue PCB, decent* chance of 8>12 pipes ONLY with reconnecting bridge trace on core.
Red PCB, "x800se" on core, 8>12 pipes ONLY with reconnecting bridge trace on core, not sure of success rate.
Red PCB, decent chance of 12 pipes with x800xl bios flash, incredible failure rate to 16 pipes.

The X800 GTO can ONLY achieve 12 pipes, not 16.

Actually, while the Sapphire is a guaranteed R480, there is a chance of other X800GTO's being R480s.

In particular, you get a good chance of a R480 core with the Connect3D X800GTOs, and i've heard rumours of the HIS cards also having R480 cores...

Edit:

A review of the specific card i recommended: (Though this one has 256mb, where the one i recommended was a 128mb version)

The R480 isn't the only thing you need, the extra 4 pipes on the GTO are defective, they aren't just laser cut or bios disabled, only the GTO2 will get to 16 pipes.
