image blend/gradient

having some troubles with blending my pasted image with the background scheme.

just oesn't look like it's natural, should i create a new layer on top of the back ground, paste my cut out image, then change the blending options to overlay or multiply?...

im pretty dam pissed to because this is the sort of thing that you use mostly in siggies


EDIT* - no worries, sorted the prob out, just learnt about layers

lol i was just bout to post n then read the bottom edit :P yeah layer it is the easyest approach and prob the most effective aswell, just incase you dont know if u want to copy a layer without going the long way, just left click once the layer you want so its blue then left click and hold it down then drag down to the bottom of the box where next to the bin icon is the icon to create new layer, let it go ontop of that and it will double the layer you just dragged.
