Group 27 for a Saxo vts? Wow.

tommy: Yeah i prefer the look of my old astra too, all my mates said im stupid for getting rid of it. But like i said i want some power lol.

map: ill have a spare turbo on the weekend i think its a vxr turbo but it will need a recon if your intrested. also got a few astra g parts lying round the garage ill have to dig them out and see what i got. edit: If its not a vxr turbo it will be from a z20let engine.

Also just got my traders insurance going halves with a friend so im currently paying 400pound a year.almost jizzed.

Nice one on the traders insurance mate, as a group 31 can be costly on it's own.

Might be interested as well if it's the VXR Turbo as well, give it some major humph.

@Tommy

It's not about buying a fast car, one of the reason's I mod is for the fun of producing a high powered car from something that is nothing. As for racing your car, I wouldn't condone it one bit from anyone, as your young and have the potential to be a dangerous driver as you can't actually drive at high speed (Unless you completed the Advanced driving course and no not your pass plus).

Matt don't go on age. I've seen guys your age driving like idiots. Stop sterotyping. Just because am 18 nearly 19 doesn't mean i put my foot down at a green light. Thing i hate is people making them comments. In my opinion young drivers shouldnt have high ins because at end of day, yes we have the most crashes but everyone has crashes. Everyone should be entitled to a chance to prove your not a sterotypical boy/girl racer.

To be fair, driving comes with experience like most things in life.

The longer and more driving you do, the more aware you become. Obviously you still have a chance of been involved and even at fault of an accident, but young drivers don't just get the reputation from boy racers (although they dont help!)

You answered yourself their Tom and that's why it effects all of us, I've only had 2 crashes in my life time and I'm 30 years old, that's 14 years experience in driving.

I also agree with Kadama as well, old people are the worst. Especially when they can't judge distance and they bloody side swipe you.

I know it's not as "in your face" as the red astra, but i still love the look of it. Soon as i get it its got some gsi recardo half leathers to go in. Then it'll be tinted the same as the old astra. :) Cant wait to pick it up on the weekend, so excited!

Most powerful car ive had was my old saxo vts pushing 140bhp, so this will be a real treat to drive.

Looks smart. It's missing something but I can put my finger on it. Looks a bit bare.

@matt

Why should I get penalized for dickhead drivers?

I do like the look of the SRi-T, however I don't like the Ecotec engine.

@Tom

You fall in the bracket of young drivers and unless 17 - 25 year old's change the way they think when it comes to driving, you will always be penalized for it.

It's the same addage of us older drivers when we have dickheads nicking our cars or breaking into them, why should we have to pay the increased premiums cause of the thieving dickheads, It's just the way insurance works and I also had to pay the high premiums when I was that age and understood why.

Because you can't prove your not a "dickhead driver" yourself.

They don't know who is a dickhead driver and who isn't therefore it all falls onto averages. **** I know, but I understand it.

As for racing your car, I wouldn't condone it one bit from anyone, as your young and have the potential to be a dangerous driver as you can't actually drive at high speed (Unless you completed the Advanced driving course and no not your pass plus).

There should not be any "Unless" statement in there. Pass plus, advanced driving, hell, even a 4 year stint as an unbeaten formula 1 driver does not automatically make it ok for you to race on the streets. If you go onto a track or whatever than thats fine, its built for it and everyone agree'son the risk. Racing on the street is completely unpredictable. Personally everytime some tool has to fly past me doing over 100mph I pray they wrap the car round a tree, because that way I know its one dead person, and an injured tree - not a family of 5 who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Everyone should be entitled to a chance to prove your not a sterotypical boy/girl racer.

Everyone is entitled to prove this, thats what they have no claims discount for.

Saying that, what are people paying for insurance at age 18/19 etc nowadays?

Cost me £480 to insure my 51 plate Astra 1.6 SXI this year, and thats with 4 years no claims, no accidents/claims and holding my licence for 7 years (Im in Northern Ireland which bumps it up a bit tbh). Most new drivers round here will not get insured on an astra full stop. Those that get a qoute get one for £5k+

In terms of ****** drivers, there used to be some guy who posted on here years ago. He would brag about speeding in his astra and eventually bragged about crashing it or some ****. Was funny cos he deserved it. People like that are the reason young drivers get a bad rep.

Just over £600 on my Golf, 2.0 GT

That's fully comp, 5 years NCB but also have no claims protection. 25 next year so hoping that will bump it down a little... Doubt it as it went up this year and insurance prices keep rising.

At 18/19 I paid £1200 3rd party for a 1.2 Clio... Think people are paying nearly £2000 these days.
