57000 men killed/injured in the first day of the Somme offensive in 1916, sobering when you consider the outrage that the military had lost over 200 personel in 5 years in afghan.. My family lost 3 brothers (my great,great uncles), none over 23 to the fields of france.. Some of us DO remember.
