Not even sure if bandwidth is the correct word but this is basically a continuation of this thread I made in PC Chat section but figured I'd get more responses up here...

Does anyone know roughly how much bandwidth or how much download usage mir uses?

Say 1 hour = what?

Sorry it's a bit confusing cos I don't really know what I'm talking about lol.

I know what you mean. How much does the host computer transfer regards to data for a period of time.

Depending on the amount of players also though, I'm not sure myself.

I think he means how much a player will use rather than the host.

Best thing I could suggest is give it a test, set something up to monitor your usage (prob task manager or something will do), then go run about on a server for 10mins or so.

if players play on solo... it's not much... <1k/s/player

if more than a few things moving around in 1 screen
few k/s/person

if event with like 20+ people and 20+ mobs in 1 screen, then you would expect nearly 10k/s/person

so basically, if you're having a hunt with 5 people and theres say between 5 - 15 mobs on screen most of the time, how long would 1GB last?

thanks

YOu can play mir for around 10 hrs per day over a month and use around 15GB Bandwidth.

But if you are thinking about using a 3G card or anything other than a wifi connection for playing mir, don't bother with it. The data transfer rate on a mobile device has a higher packet use than standard broadband.

1GB usage on a broadband line will get you about 30hrs usage and thats just standard web browsing, viewing images and watching video/music.

On a mobile card you will be lucky if you get as high as 20hrs, if you do go mobile broadband then you need a card with at least a 7GB limit.
