Did this ring much of a bell to anyone?

All I remember was going in once during my days but I know little detail of Mystery Cave.

It was accessed through Bug Cave. Wondered if anyone was familiar with it and what the purpose was of Mystery Cave on Euro Mir.

Of course! :)

You had all sorts of mobs in there with different stats. I particularly remember hens and deers which absolutely wrecked.

There was also 'mystery items' which could drop too. The stats would be revealed once you put it on and they would (by chance prehaps?) bind to your body and you couldn't remove them - I think you'd have to die for them to break. That's how I remember it anyway?

I'm sure someone else can add more / correct me.

I used to pop in at the end of my day on mir, that was when the cave entrance was in SV and was open 24/7, probably that was mir2USA?

It probably had all mobs and bosses in there and all one hit and gave one exp point but among them were mixed real subs and bosses and you newer knew if this is going to be one hit or a real fight. That was what made it fun. I think normal mobs weren't all there, but of those that were, deer and hen would be hard fight and they would drop mystery items.

Even if you didn't come across real boss, even those that gave 1 exp could drop items, I remember filling my bag with armours to sell for some profit. It was no RT place, once some lower level char got killed by a real boss and came back all upset because he dropped some nice item there, I played a knight :D and ran over to pick it up in a dense mob pileup with some big boss about and was lucky to retrieve the item for him. Was tricky because if you got trapped by mobs and the boss got on you, you might not get the chance to pick anything up and would have to TT if the boss was too big for you.

Mystery item could have really ^&* stats on them and if the item got bound to you, you needed to die as he says, usually many times before it would drop off you. You would see someone naked poking guards to get killed over and over, or you could use a purifying potion to cancel the bind (not sure what it was called) that also dropped in the mystery cave.

I miss this place along with casino. I never got to win the big prize (was it a gold brick?) but if you played it smart and not got too greedy, you could exit at some point with a decent profit. Was it tokens you could use to progress to next room or you could give up and cash them? I recall now there was NPC that offered gambling with those tokens. Casino was also a place I used to pop in in between regular hunts.

Mystery Water was needed to remove the items. I'm not sure if dieing on the original Euro mir broke Mystery items?
The water dropped from mobs in MC.

Super Deers were basically WT strength in the early days of mir and I believe had the same attack as WT.

I used to go every Saturday. It opened at like 7pm and closed after a couple of hours. Had a few decent items, usually MC or SC+2 Helms - This was before any helmet had any MC on them at all (Unless droped added stat).
Similar with SC/MC2/3 braces.

Yes
Dont forget the most important part of mystery items, the stats showed as ?????? to other people so you could pretend they were super stats and scam them :D

Consequently they added a line notice along the lines of "If a mystery item deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is"... bastards!

I recall mystery caps the most.

Did anyone find out their real stats on their mystery items?

yeah Mystery cave was simple, we had something similar without the hidden stat side

All Mystery Items would have completely RNG rolls, so you could get really awesome gear or naff gear.
Also when WTs got 1 shot and deers were insane, god bless!

what the purpose was of Mystery Cave on Euro Mir.

It was to spice things up, bring in something unexpected. Surely everybody who got teled in first time had his heart sunk when he saw the mobs, like a bunch of ESs, then you got careless mowing them like grass until something went wrong, your hp plummeted and it dawned on you that you were up to a real boss.

Must have been fun specially for those who were the first in when the update with MC came in and nobody knew what it was all about. But was easy to be caught off guard even if you knew, you got lulled into careless 1hiting mobs, WTs and all, until the blade got caught on a rock...

Some pple found a way how to 'overstay' the two hour limit and earned a temp ban or something. I thought it was silly since those mystery items couldn't make anybody OTT and what if you got some boss drops outside of those from proper krs. Euro had to be spiced up for us anyway, starting with better drops from raking cats, continuing with spider mass drops in PI and to cap it, the famous Easter event dropping paras and all that. In comparison the Korean mir2 was like a scrooge mir and probably is to this day.

The OW in there would only die to thrust by a warrior. Was always a pain coming across one off them . Was a great place to hunt. I can remember it being accessed from SV and then OC. Had a dc 3 mystery helm on my war, but it had nothing else. No ac or amc. So was good to screenshot max dc stats wearing it..

Did you play a warrior by then?

Taking down an OW on Wiz or Tao was easier as their axes would smash you heavily if toe to toe with them. You remind me of the bucket of drops from each kill from an OW.

I remember going into shops in town and buying Mystery items... thinking i'd get something really good!

I don't think all items bound, only certain ones though?

Yea it was random and obv you didn't know if the item you had would bind or not. Funny when you had +1 mc and it would bind.
