Problems installing sql 2000

Every time i goto install sql 2000 it gives me this message :S anyone help with this please?

An internal read error has occurred on C:\DOCUME~1\.....\LOCAL.INS. Unable to load installation instructions.
Error 703.

What server version are you using and where did you download the copy of SQL from?

Im using the sql 2000 from kaoris mirfiles but just keeps throwing this message up everytime :S

i have downloaded sp4 for sql 2000 but now im getting this ive checked the readme file and it says nothing about this error.

this is the command you use to install

Okay.. try this... if you want MSDE.

Goto:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8E2DFC8D-C20E-4446-99A9-B7F0213F8BC5

Get:
SQL2000.MSDE-KB884525-SP4-x86-ENU.EXE

run the exe to extract the content

open cmd
cd /d C:\SQL2KSP4
setup INSTANCENAME="WHATEVER" SECURITYMODE=SQL SAPWD="AStrongSAPwd" /L*v C:\MSDELog.log

If you still get ERROR, open C:\MSDELog.log and see if you get any useful info. Or post the log here.

there isent a log file... because the program doesent run for some reason :S about a year ago i had sql 2000 on my pc and had no problem installing it :S

Your supposed to install DB server not analysis server, thats your problam.......

You need the 66.9MB if you are upgrading your existing full install.

You need the 78.5MB if you are trying to install or upgrade MSDE.
