Does anyone know if there's a security setting that blocks downloading an ini file from a web site ?

If it's a link on a page, right clicking and using save as fails on the ini file. If you change the file to .txt and it works first time.

Thanks

Get them to install winrar or 7zip and make it easy for both of you

Well it was supposed to be an easy and quick fix but like all such plans !

I'm looking into CHMOD settings in the root directory.
Might be that.

If it works as a txt then upload it as a txt and have the downloader change the file extension,

Or use FTP.

I have set it as a txt file now just to show that the link itself is correct. I changed nothing except the file type of the file and link and it works straight away.

There's definitely some permission issue with Windows Server 2008 SE and ini files.
I looked at the permissions for the exe and ini and they seem the same but there must be some deeper setting regarding system files like ini.

FTP will probably be the answer. Hey ho !

Thanks for the replies.

As a text file yes, not ini.
I've asked Microsoft about it but have no answer yet.
Works for me as ini from your first link.
