Setting up a FTP server for people to download mir files - is it safe?

Hey guys, the questions in the title really. I can't really find any reliable upload services for free so I was wondering if it's safe to use an FTP server to let people download a Mir client from? Bearing in mind these will be strangers, I'm not quite sure if it leaves my computer at risk of being hacked or something?

For the purpose of being reliable I recommend using mirfiles.co.uk
There is an upload function but it's only for smaller files, you can't use it to upload a client or anything. If you want to upload larger files then you will need to request an ftp account from me.
