Hey,

Before I begin, I'd just like to say that I've done a thorough forum and guide search for the problem I am having and I haven't been able to resolve it. Most of the threads concerning this problem eventually trail off topic or have someone say "Thanks I've fixed it now" without explaining how they came about the fix.

I hope that anyone who reads this thread can contribute towards solving this problem:

Dreaded SQL - CD Error:

error2se9.jpg

Things I've tried off the top off my head:

  • Taken off firewall
  • Set SQL Express to listen for TCP/IP
  • Combed through all the ini files - all set to 127.0.0.1 and (local) where applicable and all the passwords are correct.
  • Corrected all the directories from D:\mud3\x to C:\Mir3Server\ for my computer
  • Setup !setup.txt using Kaori's website, to the best of my knowledge, and following the relevant LS guide.
  • Installed Zone Alarm just in case it was Window's firewall being *****y.
  • Deleted all the DB/ODBC settings and started from scratch
  • Reinstalled SQL Express
  • Tried on both Vista and XP.
  • Kicked computer.

I'm using the "3.55Working" files off of Kaori's website. I appreciate that the community might take a while to reply, so look forward to any help you can give.

Thanks!

Turns out you can use Microsoft SQL Express.

However the details are slightly different, for the SQLHost = <computername>\<severname> instead of (local).

One problem though:

Now I am getting a Starttime exception in CruelDragon3GBaseData.exe !! Everything else appears to load fine. This is followed by "Not Ready 127.0.0.1".

Help please, I will continue to search meanwhile.

Thanks for replying Inflikted; by "setup.ini" do you mean "crueldragon3g.ini" or "!setup.txt"?

Thanks bro. :)

I'll fine comb all the IPs again though!

--> Oh and this is rather odd. My Mir3 Client won't load past the "Wemade" logo video. It crashes just before the Login/Password screen appears. Any idea why that is?

This can be due to the way you startup the gates also, try

LoginSrvr > DBserver > Loader3G > NetCheck(Wait untill Magic Gate Has Opened Message) > LoginGate > SelGate > RunGate > RegServer

Thanks for the input. No avail.

After starting Loader3G, the server is up within seconds and the error follows within a few more seconds lol. I continue to complete the rest of the routine, but still the problem persists. NetCheck returns writing in Chinese script:

Ignore the ASCII I actually see the Chinese characters, just that copy and paste doesn't seem to copy them lol.

--> I noticed the "Not Ready 127.0.0.1" starts after running RunGate.

:-( Lazy bugger.

Hall, do you mean I have to wait a while between loading server?

Thats the first I've heard of that! Curious.

from your first post... you don't need to run anything else...

just focus on crueldragon exe...
running other stuff won't help your basedata to work

Sorted that problem mate. The issue for future reference is that:

The CruelDragon3G.ini has SQLAddress=(local), but if you run SQL Express, you will have to put [Computer name]\SQLEXPRESS <-- or whatever you called the server instance. Its just those small things you miss, which you spend hours on. But oh well, if anyone else comes across that particular problem, they will know to check.

My issue was with the starttimer exception followed by "Not Ready 127.0.0.1".

Thanks for the reply.
