FAO Website nerds,

Im trying to set up a website for my Ma's hobby of selling crafty type things, and were unsure of the rules of engagement so to speak!

There are some websites with similar names to what shes looking for but they seem to be no longer active according to the link/companies house.

Can anybody point us in the direction of setting a website up that isnt covered in random ads?

Or any help in general/legally as we dont know where we stand.

http://www.heartsandcraft.co.uk/

This website is advertised by a domain company (or whatever the terminology is), so would we rent it off them or? Total noobie with it all.

Tah in advance.

That domain is already owned by someone, as when you type it into 123reg it says 'unavailable'. You can then see who owns by it doing a whois lookup, http://whois.domaintools.com/ in this case someone called Amy Walsh. Even though she hasn't got a website, she still owns it. If you wanted to try and purchase it off her you'd need to contact her direct, I believe.

As for creating a website for a novice, I don't know of any service that is completely free that doesn't involve ads. If you wanna spend a bit of money a couple of simple services are wix.com and squarespace.com - I haven't used either personally but I know people who have. End product is good quality and the hosting is all inclusive, I couldn't tell you what they cost though. Certainly much cheaper than having something custom built though.
