Hi. I am planning to make a upgrade around Christmas time.

What I have is:

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) XP Barton 2500+ @ 1.83 GHz Socket A
Motherboard: ASUS A7N8X2.0 nForce 2 Socket A Dual Channel

What I plan to upgrade is:

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 3500+ @ 2.2 GHz Socket 939
Motherboard: ASUS A8V-X K8T800PRO Socket 939 Dual Channel, SATA-2, PCI-e x2, PCI x3, AGP

Total upgrade will cost around 140 euros. My budget is 140 euros

What you peoples think about this ?

You'll be able to get core 2 duo with MAYBE 1GB of ram by that time. More than likely 512 though.

It makes me sad that you can get the same processor and a motherboard for less than i bought the same processor a year ago :'(

Well aint gonna go to Intel, all the damn motherboard, maybe a newgraphic card, dunno if intel mother board has agp slot. anyways ur great guys, thanks for ur replies.

Your talking about it as if there were only one type of motherboards for each slot, one for the Intel and one for AMD lol.

Ofcourse there are boards which have AGP and can cope with Intel processors, theres a few out with AGP and PCI-E which are quite nice when you don't have the money to upgrade your AGP video card but wan't to in the future, however i'm not quite sure about how stable those boards are.
