Don't know what you mean about gms not being on. There is a gm on at least 4 hours a day, at different times every day. Also, I can be reached by email and there is a forum that I check everyday at the server's website. So, if anyone is having problems, there are ways to get in touch with gms...

The point of the minipatch is that it is small and get the important files like hum, weapon, items, etc. If i added the maps, then I would also have to add the mobs that are on the maps, as well as their sounds, at which point it would be the full patch, which is already available.

Just guessing, but maybe you got a bad download? or possibly you are running a version of windows and a version of db commander that dont get along? Not sure if that helps any...
