There are no complete setups for server and client. The files are provided by forum members and you install and configure yourself. You then need to translate the files using bits and pieces provided across the forums. Once I have everything working, I may dust off my InstallShield books...

I already have the (manual) books, the issue is when I double click them it does nothing. Is there some area of the config that controls the activation of books? I can get round it by using the @TRAINMAGIC gm command, but it'd be better to get it right.

Has anyone came across this one on the 3G Holly files before? The m / l button doesn't get you off and on your horse. I tried @recallhorse to get me to ride it, but had to go into the character table in sql and change the FLD_HORSE in the character table to 0 to get off it again. Any ideas...

I've got everything up and running, thanks to all who helped. So next thing I done was restored a translated dat to my 3g db, and that works great :D Then I added a user to the admin file, that's working great. Then I swapped out the StrRes3G.txt file to get some gm commands going and...

Has anyone who has a translated version of the db's mobs, npcs etc etc actually published them or is that a taboo here? People still have to put the work in to configure the servers and alter game play to their own style. Translating reams of chinese is a lot of work for ppl who don't speak...

Mir has always taken up almost all of any processor timeslices. I was told it was something to do with prevention of third party apps interfering with game play. :fthrower:

Maybe you could add an entry to your Windows hosts file for name resolution. :brows:

What version of SQl are you using, what operating system service pack does it ask for. XP should only need SP2 installed and all of the SQL versions (Home, Standard, Enterprise, Developer) should all work

Am I right in assuming that the RegServer app creates a .ini file for your server exe? What would happen if I use the wrong version of RegServer for the Server exe?

I've created the CruelDragon3GbaseData database, restored the dat to it and added an odbc record for CruelDragon3GbaseData. Still just won't load my monster db ! Do any of the Ini files need pointing to that odbc? ready to load ini file.. !setup.txt loaded.. loading string resource...

Thanks, I'll redo it now. I did wonder about those DAT names when I was restoring them tbh. :dunce: I assume I'll need to change the names on my odbc connections and across all the ini files?
