I have a box from 1and1, Its Windows 2k3 (64bit) the key for 3.55 doesnt seem to work on it.

Is there any way of getting it to work or entering the key in manually to the Registry?

Switch the OS from 64bit to 32bit, 1&1 have normaly the Option.
If it a 100% Virtual Mashine then it is not so easy and more Problems with
Mir3 come up. We use on Illusion Server ever 100% Root Server no Virtual things... Made the live easy with Mir3.

if he has the server i think on 1&1 then its not virtual and its an actual physical dedicated server, Using remote desktop to connect...

i cannot get 3.55 to work on windows 2003 (32 Bit) but can get 3.38...

Ive had Mir 3 3.55 files running on some win 2k3 machines and just not managed it on others, I have a feeling it may be down to the hardware used in some machines.

If its the hardware then it shouldnt work on XP either imo.

I tried to run the 3.55 files yesterday on my 2k3 machine (after 2 hours installing SQL and other things). I got a 32-bit Enterprise server installed on a single core processor, which doesnt differ then a normal pc. And then noticed on a side topic that it isnt possible. (this info isnt on the main thread btw.)

But tbh what is the major difference between 2k3 and xp ? I dont see any.

And why is there a key required to run the files??

Am gonna try to run Virtual server with an XP instance on it and see if it will work. But still its very strange it doesnt run on many 2k3 server.

I suppose it's protected against running on virtual machines (tested with VMWare, VirtualServer - failed, VirtualBox - was ok). As I know it's not too hard to detect VM APIs.
On VirtualBox I was able to run Loader3G without asking me for another key, the only problem was with HolleyDBSrv, it wasn't running at all.

mmmm :S

to me it makes no sence why you need a windows xp machine running instead of a windows 2003 server
