Very much a good idea imo.

I mean its true, kids are watching pornography younger and younger. If something like this could stop them being able to access it its a good thing is it not?

And if you want to watch porn all you have to do is Opt in to it. Which i imagine will be done via your online COntrol panel on your ISPs website. Hardly much effort.

A survey by Psychologies magazine this summer found that one in three children aged 10 in Britain had viewed pornography on the net.

The other 2 lied or found their parents' stash.

& no, it's not a good idea - the internet should have complete freedom. If you're worried about your kids watching porn on the internet then either install a filter yourself or just don't let them on the computer...

Well whats more important, stopping child pornography or having full freedom on the internet, there just talking about blocking pornography until you say actually i want it, give me the pornography. This isnt effecting our rights in any way whatsoever i can only see this doing good. Unless of course your a 16 year old wanting to watch porn in which case i suggest you start burning some dvds right away.

And they can really filter out torrents as well, can't they. Kids arent stupid nowadays, anyone 13 up will know how to circumvent this. You get better stuff and full movies on torents anyway.

lol Pete didnt expect any less from you. I think this is a good idea, as a lot of kids stumble onto porn from the most simple of searches on google etc, this will help prevent them being exposed to things like this at too young an age. Like many have said, for those who watch porn it wont make a difference as you can simply opt in to be able to see it lol

Can go either way, kids can't buy their own internet so "for those who want their kids to not see porn on the internet just filter it out" - just like schools and colleges have been doing for years... it's not rocket science really.

ISPs shouldn't be able to police what we go on unless it's illegal (child porn, terrorism etc), nor should they sell our browsing history to 3rd party companies like BT are doing.

what I was being serious honest :D

On a more serious note I would just get the sites blocked using software and stop my son's from being able to use a torrent, I don't need the government to hold my hand it's the non-computer illiterate people who need it done for them.

The point here is one of parental responsibility again!, parents should be responsible for what there kids eat, access and do, but because most parents these days seem to be unfit to do this they harass the government into becoming mother hen, meaning stupid intiatives such as this are put forward, just as salads were put into fast food restaurants, and why idiots keep saying voilent video games warp young minds, then why the **** as a parent aren't you making sure they don't do that, this rant isn't aimed at just porn lord knows I like to wack off now and again to some vicious brazilian scat, just summing up if you can't look after the spawn you've produced in a sensible manner then don't bother, now I'm off to form a group in protest of the Oboe, it produces satanist music and I want the government to do something about it.

No, it's the parents who are incapable of thinking for themselves and can't bring their kids up right and live on council estates that need the help.

Most parents have the common sense to find out about how to apply parental controls etc.
