Origin of the Crystal Legacy
2011-11-16 13:17:05 The universe was a deadly mass of brutal elemental forces at the beginning of the time. It was a lifeless emptiness; the only form of activity was the explosive clashes of the raw elements.
Grown tired of such listless chaos, Gaia, Goddess of the Earth, tried establishing an order for this world that she saw as her protectorate. Putting an order to this vast mass was no mean task and it almost consumed all her life force to achieve an environment where life is permissible. Task accomplished at long last but with a cost: the Goddess fell into a deep slumber because she had terribly exhausted herself by fusing her life force into a seed where all forms of life on Earth found its source.
This is how the story of man began in the Realm.
The human race nurtured on this land saw its glory and triumph until its members got deeply divided for insatiable desire for power; greed and the pursuit for self-interest created bitterness and the most negative emotion that had never been witnessed in human society. There were bitter arguments among neighbours, who otherwise would get along with one another on first-name basis; there were wars both within and among communities; wars seemed to be going on forever!
And then the moment for total destruction came: The ghosts created by the constant and brutal wars, for some mystical reason, started to feed on the hatred and bitterness to gain strength from breathing humans. With another war, with hatred and bitterness getting denser in the air, the ghosts gradually mutated into the all powerful Undead. They were not living creatures and they could not rest. They could only roam the land forever!
No living things could survive the Undead. In their trail, there were only parched land and withered crops. The human society was fast shrinking in its size and strength. In despair, human beings sought help from the Elf, who had lived in seclusion with almost no human contact in the Ancient Forest since time immemorial.
The Elf is the guardian of the seed of life; they were most unwilling to get involved in the war between the Human and the Undead, but they were more reluctant to see life being slowly snuffed out. So when the Human race thought their days were numbered, the Elf united with the Mage, another ancient tribe, to unlock the sacred energy stored inside the seed of life. The moment the seed was cracked open, a strong white beam spurted out and shot up into the sky, turning the whole night sky blindingly bright. Seconds later, the white beam started to break up into small specks and started to fall. When the white specks were gone, the Undead had vanished and so did their ever growing negative energy.
The Human race seemed to have been touched on by something sacred and felt remorse. The dark past seemed a hellish nightmare and they were too glad to wake up. You are one with a distant memory of this nightmare; you don’t know your past; you don’t know why and how life returned to you; you only know that you have to heed the wise words of Goddess Fortuna, who will guard you through another journey on this land in your pursuit for the answer to this mystery.
