Dual Screening

Im sure this has been asked a billion times, but i got back into mir recently and i was wondering if there was a way to get it sorted as the other monitor switches to the same crappy resolution and i cant get my other one down to 640 x 480.

ive heard mention of some sorta virtual box or emulator, if thats the only way could someone advise me on a decent one that wont teef all my resources?
