I think they look well done and quite detailed. Must have taken ages.
As for people saying the maps are boring, well, all maps are inherently boring, they're just maps. Mob placement and method of moving across the maps is what makes them exciting/challenging.
If you had the most intricately layed out map but just had scarecrows in it, there's no challenge. Replace the scarecrows with different layers of orbs, foxes etc and it becomes a totally different proposition.
See the map simply as a barren landscape, an empty shell.
An empty box is boring. Put the keys to a Harley Davidson in it and things start to happen.
