need help with Cruel Dragon files

ki got everything sorted (i think)


BUT


when i go to load up the EXEs i get a starttimer exception it says.....


read to load ini file..
!setup.txt loaded..
loading string resource...
16:34:49 Read Emergency Map : [0] 458,398
16:34:50:starttimer exception...



what did i do wrong?v or what do i need ot do

look in your !setup.txt, you've got one of the following things wrong..

paths to your maps/gates/mapinfo etc
ip
server name
port (shouldnt be this)

most likely path or ip. jus check through em.

ok i was spking to someone on msn and they said cruel Dragon files run on their own so i redid it


now i get the following error when loading up the Eiserver.exe:


it says "invalid filename"



any ideas




btw i still have the old files setup which i got the above error in, which one should i work with?

on the EIserver.exe its saying 20:36:39 Not ready ip

why are you trying to connect when your cruel dragon is not fully loaded.
you should see something like this.

allow guild doesnt seem to work in settings that and allow ressurection...well buttons didnt change

how do i host it over the net, my setup:



laptop (hosting server files) is connected to my PC (which is main PC has net going through it etc)

laptop and pc connected via direct connection ethernet cable thingie

are you going to host them on your lappy? any chance it will go to your PC?

are you using ICS (internet connection sharing)?

yes im running ICS, im on our site on my laptop as a matter of fact m8 using that setup decrypter, they are currentl being hosted on my lappy

with ICS... you still have to forward those ports 7000 7100 7200 to your lappy

all server files on lappy? and sql too?

if it's YES to all the above... you can keep 127.0.0.1 for all IP first... test if it works.. then you change 2 places to net ip no more no less.

yeah, i've changed the server ips all to 192.168.0.94 (laptops addy) will that matter?

i got into TBL_selectgateip

and the dbsvr's ini files and change it to say 81.204.92.10 (comps ip) and then ppl should be able to get on my server (ofcourse after making a .cin file)

i went into the crueldragon2gbasedata datbase and i tried to change the items but it wouldnt let me

does SQL have to be shut off completely (turn server off type thing) b4 i cna change them?

changed the IPs to 127.0.0.1


login now, and i click the server name

then it goes black and an error comes up::

if you change db, of course it's nice to have nobody using it.

did you change your tbl_selectgateip to whatever ip you think it will connect?

you should also try this tool... telnet... instead of running the game 10000 times to test if it works...

all ip 127.0.0.1 first
telnet 127.0.0.1 7000
telnet 127.0.0.1 7100
telnet 127.0.0.1 7200

if they go blank screen, that means it works... you should also see you are connected if you have "show message" checked. to quit telnet you press Ctrl-] and then type quit

now you go and change tbl_selectgateip and !servertable.ini in dbsrv. to net ip.

now you should try from somewhere outside (not in your lan)
telnet netip 7000
etc

if you get blank screen, then do your cin file and connect...

check router/firewall for 7000 then.. you may have to use another port if 7000 doesn't work.
