This is just a quick guide im whipping up to prevent getting dos'd. It wont 100% block it but its good if you wanna eliminate people you think is doing it.
I know how it feels to get dos'd as it took my server down but it hasnt shut down my server. Ive made my PC now uberly stealthed and done all i can to prevent intrusions/attacks.

A quick easy way to prevent being DoS'd Is to download Zone Alarm Pro
once zone alarm pro is open click the firewall tab. There should be a network in there i dont know what yours would be click Add in the bottem right corner

Here there is:

Ip Range
Ip Address
Host/Site
Subnet

Lets take ip range for eg.

say you was getting dos'd by 213.184.772.84
then in the Ip address box type 213.184.772 this should block the net cafe they are dos'n from i say net cafe as most dos'n comes from H3ra or Pana in there netcafe in romania. This worked for me you can also eliminate single ip address's if you know whoes doing it to you

Warning:
Make sure you dont block to much of a ip range as you may have people blocked that you dont want to as most peoples Ip's start with 213 etc

do a shutdown, disconnect your router/jack from your system to reset,
power back on and change your IP, and you can go from there.

You could use the security settings in the control panel.

I would tell you properly but some people have to learn for themselves.

come on use your brains.
