Its just a couple days away from March 2nd, the anticipated release date of information regarding Microsoft's "secret" project: www.origamiproject.com.

Yeha ok those who have heard of it probably already know about all the rumours that its may be a "revolutionary" new lifestyle pc solution, mobile communication device, or even pocket xbox. U name it its been speculated. Anyone have solid evidence of what it is? Any guesses? Ne1 interested at all? lol

it makes it look quite exciting, but knowing my luck, it will be something highly overrated

grrr the new update is even more enigmatic. definately something portable.. sounds almost like a wifi type solution too... seen the device in that clip before. very likely thats actually it, but maybe seeing as its a year old video we're gonna see an updated design cos that was uuuugly.. plus new features.

roll on the 9th march. week 3, final release i hope.

that video was old and they said it was only a concept basic build that they experimented with, microsoft have released some things in their time, but surely they cannot be stupid enough to release that ugly mother that is shown in that video, hopefully they have improved the look of it

sounds and looks just like a mini laptop to me, but between price of say a PDA and a Laptop maybe

i saw this mentiond on a tv program a few days ago. GPS has become quite popular for travlers wishing to explore a town or city without having to whip out a map every 5 mins. as the databases get more and more complext, the level of detail shown on thr GPS units increases dramaticaly.

OMG i actually went O.O that looks so goddam sweet, microsoft and samsung and asus joined together for this one by the looks of it
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/umpc/default.mspx is the new site for origami now known as the ultra-mobile PC, it looks so goddam sexy

im about to watch the video on the new site for it, lets just hope it performs as well as it makes out to.

by looks, i wouldnt say it is THAT portable, because i can guarantee if i walked around my town using that, (it definately wnt fit into a pocket) i would get mugged within 3 minutes

Tbh I'm feelin kinda let down. The UMPC is from Intel, and I've known that was comin for weeks. 'Origami' is simply the overlaying UI for the device... MS have generated alot of hype over this and i think the result is people will be slightly disappointed by them.

Its too big, too heavy, battery wouldnt last more than 2 hours without a charge unless they've incorporated some radical new technology. Its prob gonna cost the earth (twice that of a palmtop at least i'd say). Laptops have a clearer screen, more useful keyboard, longer battery life, and can come with touchscreen tech...Palmtops are cheap, efficient, and "boot up" within 2-3 seconds usually. The UMPC is somewhere inbetween i guess.

Looks nice but gimmie a laptop/notebook pc anyday.
