question about the old m2server.exe

apparently my mate got hold of a special m2server.exe file, apprently it does this and that and is fairly unique, the question is...

could he apply that m2server.exe to the 1.4 files and itd have all the new features or would he need other files?

my friend today, got ahold of a m2server.exe file, apparently its fair kitted out ( it was a custom one that 1 of his mates made abit ago and has just given him)

can he just overwrite this one with his old one? or will he need more files off his mate?

tbh it wasnt given to him his mate give him some backup CDs and his work was on there (thick git) lol

anyways how does he find out what this exe is capable of? etc etc?
