hi all

just tried setting up the SQL DB thing for the new files, (following Demonics PDF guide)

and i get this error:

SQL server registration failed because of the connection failure displaed below. do you wish to modify anyway?

SQL server does not exist or access denied.
ConnectionOpen(Connection())

also, this is in the enterprise manager,

btw the (LOCAL) (Windows NT) thing has a red square button on the icon, and says "connection failed, check SQL server Registration Properties.)

:( im a complete n00b @ sql so i have no idea what any of that **** means

Right Click My Computer and do Manage..

go down to Serices & Applications

Then Services (this been on XP like)...

If you look at the Screen shot I added, you will see the SQL Service Highlighted, if that is started then Great, if not then you have a problem...

If the Service is running then you have not registed the SQL Correctly on the Manager..

restart ur pc - if in right corner of screen at startup dont appearb and Red arrow (sql server) go to: start > programs > Microsoft SQl Server > Service Manager

When the programs starts push Start button.

Now u will be able to connect to SQl server trough enterprise manager

ok, demonic i just done that and it says..

could not start the MSSQLSERVER service on Local Computer.

Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure...

could it be because its trying to logon to my computer instead of the laptop itself?

and ripman i tried that aswell but it gives me a logon error again

make sure you are using LOCAL SYSTEM account to start the service. I believe some installation uses your user account which has no power.

look in Service and see if it's running sql server as LOCAL SYSTEM... if not.. then go properties and switch it to LOCAL SYSTEM.

you must be an administrator to do this.
