Ok my bios is set to 333mhz which is ddr2 667, I recently ran memtest and its saying that my ram is running at 287mhz ddr2 597

Does this mean my ram or slots are faulty?

laptop or pc?

most laptops run lower speed so battery will last longer.

monitor your cpu rate as well, see if it's running at full speed. If it dips, that's a possible multiplier or fsb decrease.

cpuz will show those info realtime. (is memtest dos only? or windowed?)

memtest is dos, my bios is also showing my ram at ddr 557 when it should be 667/333mhz, my cpu is up and down like a yoyo plus my hdd light is onthe go constantly, but i think thats my cpu causing that.

if your cpu speed is up and down in cpuz, then don't worry about the ram being lower speed.

take a look at the motherboard brand website. they may have a utility to tweak the cpu rate so it runs at full speed all the time. it could also be a bios setting you have to change... take a look!

its steady in cpuz, i meant its irratic in vistas resource monitor its not stable it jumps from 5% to 20 and higher then its back down again.
