These are my computer specs as they are right now. Stock cooling.

I have about £100 - £150 to spend, what do you think I should get?

Thanks.

Yes, clean it off and apply some thermal paste when you put it on the new one.

Ok, lemme keep some options open here.

Is there any chance of me getting a bigass CPU fan and case fan maybe and clocking my 2.4 to a 2.8? With the 50 quid saved I could get a gb stick of DDR RAM(Replacing the 512 you suggested)?

My processor is in the B family...

PMSL im sorry but you are an IT technition urban, and to most people who are on about computers you tell them to re apply their thermal paste. And the IT technitions at school all they do is exacttly that, put thermal paste and blow the computer a bit. Is it an inside secret that thermal paste and blowing is all the computer ever needs?

I too have a P4B 2.4 and a giga board (RDRAM though).

An OC is never garenteed, and the fan/heatsink alone would cost you 30-35 pounds. I would guess maybe 2.6-2.7, although my OC experience with B is minimal.

A 1GB stick of ram is a lot more expensive than 2x512, and you probably wouldn't notice either.

P4B 2.8 + 512 stick is my recommendation.

I have no idea what you mean, can you try to reword it?

Ok, I've ordered the Kingston 512MB DDR PC3200 400MHz CL3 Memory Module.

Mine current stick runs at 333MHz, is that ok?

Yes, the ram will default to the slowest/worst timings you got, i.e. your stock DDR333.

That's cool, I'll just get another stick of the Kingston when I get another 50quid.

Should still notice the difference with a Gb of RAM though :).
