I think the important thing to consider here, is you have just saved yourself a lot of time and effort. They guy was either a retard (who the **** adds people to MSN to compliment their display names?), or was one of those people who wanted help, but pads the conversation out with several hours of small talk.

I think the problems stem from the fact reputation is becoming more and more important on here, and the type of reputation doesnt matter, as long as its there. Like everything else though, new people entering the scene want everything NOW, so instead of climbing the social ladder, they aim for the top.
