Well, actually there's no CPU/GPU/MEM configuration that istantly encodes a video, so faster things speed it up.

Iy's also quite nice to play games in high res/aa/af.

the point of havin high specs is cos everything runs incredibly smoothly. i want a better gfx card in my pentium machine, tho mite leave it cos i'll b gettin the duel sli 7800gtx too, for my X2 4800+. (see any1can boast bout their machines but my specs were made public cos i needed advice) top spec machines now are gettin more n more future proof so thats the best reason to invest in somethin like that... but £2-3k machines are a little ott i have to admit.

I'd hold off on any high end GPU purchases, something better is right around the corner.

Nothing is future proof, 3DMark06 can show you that.

Not much is present proof either, there are a couple of games I can't run on full spec. Eq2 is one of them, those shadows are leet.
