Judging you got your stuff from Scan, you payed £117 inc for a 9800GT?

4830 = Cheaper/Faster

Lol no. I rarely play games. I use the machine as a CAD workstation (Im a mechanical design engineer).

I use a nVidia Quadro FX1700 instead of the 260 for 99% of what I do, but I figured I mite as well get a decent general gfx card to go with the rig as I do a lot of promotional stuff using various image/video editing packages too, and yeah, incase I decide to play games.

I play mir on my laptop lol.

Well, that killed the conversation.

Has anyone else tried the new Core i7 chips? I dont feel much improvement in the day to day tasks over the core 2 quad tbh. When pushed it shows though. The ram is nice too. Can open 3Gb+ CAD assemblies without the thing slowing down and I can photoquality render at 1280x1024 in less than 10mins whereas on my old E6600 c2d it would hang after 45mins lol.

My laptop - Sony Vaio VGN-FZ21M
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
Display - 15,4
Resolution - 1280x800
HDD - 200 GB
Memory - 2048 MB
Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT
Optical Drive - Blu-ray

Couple of things I dont like about it. It has poor battery life and gets extremely hot after leaving it on for like 30mins lol

I have fiddled around with the power options and stuff but it doesn't make a big difference =/
