what u need to start off with, is download a client from another server (OldSkool is a good one because its fast speed and is reliable) once u have installed the OldSKool client, u need to locate that folder (if u search for old school it will find it) now in the folder you will see a Mir2.exe Servers.ini Mir2.ini and 3 folders (Wav Data and Map) now open up the Servers.ini and change the ip address to, 127.0.0.1 (this is for offline use).
You Also need to install SQL 2000 (if on XP). then from in the SQL data base, this is were u would add npcs, items, maps, mobs, spells, ETC ETC. use this guide here
http://www.lomcn.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=54617 to get SQL set up, and im sure it runs through the IP's to check from in ur server files, and will explain better what Gates to run and the order.
now if u would just like to get the server up and play it for now, just load up the few gates. (i cnt remeber the name of all the gates now) but there is login gate, log server gate, selgate, DB server, (there is 1 or 2 more) but make sure u run M2Server.exe last, as this brings the whole server togeather.
now previding the IP's in the server client r all set to 127.0.0.1, it will all load up properly. to test (once uv ran the gates for the server) go back to ur Old Skool folder, and run the Mir2.exe, and then create ur account, and if u can get ingame after uv made ur char then your in.
however this char wont be a Admin yet, u will need to change that.
